Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the rare mobile RPG that trusts you to read. The world is a crumbling kingdom of ash and old magic, and the writing actually gives your party members personalities worth caring about. Battles are turn-based with a positioning twist — where you place a fighter on the field changes what their skills do, which turns fights into little puzzles.
The progression is generous without being mindless. You unlock new party members at a steady clip, and swapping in someone with a fresh skill set can completely change how you approach a boss. I appreciated that the game lets you pause and plan; nothing here demands twitch reflexes.
My one gripe is the early chapters lean a bit heavy on tutorials. Push past hour two and it opens up into something genuinely engrossing, with side stories that are often better than the main quest.
What we liked
- Positioning-based combat
- Characters worth remembering
- Fair, readable progression
