Why touch controls make or break a mobile strategy game
Strategy games ask you to move a lot of units precisely, and that's brutal on a touchscreen. So many otherwise-clever games get sunk by controls that select the wrong squad or drop a formation in the wrong spot at the worst moment.
When a game like Ironhold Command gets it right, everything else clicks into place. Precise formation dragging, clear tap targets, and readable icons mean you can focus on your plan instead of fighting the interface. That's the difference between a game I recommend and one I quietly delete.
If you're shopping for a strategy game, spend your first ten minutes just testing the controls before you care about anything else. Can you reliably select the unit you want? Does zooming feel smooth? Those basics tell you more than any feature list.
Depth matters too, of course. But a deep strategy game with awful controls is just frustration with extra steps.
